Hot Laps - A Real Adrenalin Rush
Consider the first roller coaster ride you took and then amp-up the adrenalin from there. That may be close to the thrill you will experience when you take the “Cork Screw” on Hot Laps. For $30, “Hot Laps” participants are given the thrills of riding in a Porsche driven by a seasoned driver on the famous Laguna Seca track. Hot Laps are Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. All of the cars are safety equipped and tested for track driving and the drivers are certified.
For the past nine years Henry (Hank) Watts has been coordinating the driving crews for Hot Laps. Most within the group of professional drivers are instructors with the Porsche Club of America. They take nearly 350 people a day around the track for those two days. The drivers volunteer their cars and their time for the event. Hot Laps raises funds for Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation. Last year Hot Laps raised an estimated $14,000.
Bill Newman head ups our volunteers for Hot Laps. He has been donating his time rounding up all the volunteers and making sure that Hot Laps always runs smoothly. |
